Tokyo Skytree, Menara Tertinggi Dunia

Tokyo Skytree, yang merupakan menara siaran tertinggi di dunia dengan ketinggian 634 meter, telah dibuka untuk umum di Jepang.
Menara yang memakan waktu tiga setengah tahun dalam pembangunannya, hampir dua kali lebih tinggi dari Tokyo Tower, menara yang menjadi landmark kota Tokyo sejak tahun 1960-an.
Atraksi utama dari struktur yang berbentuk jarum ini adalah dua buah deck observasi di ketinggian 350 meter dan 450 meter di atas tanah.

Walaupun Tokyo Skytree berhasil menjadi menara tertinggi dunia, namun bangunan paling tinggi di planet ini masih dipegang oleh Khalifa Burj di Dubai, yang menjulang dengan ketinggian 828 meter.
BBC menulis, Skytree yang juga dua kali lipat lebih tinggi dari Menara Eiffel di Paris, menawarkan jasa penyiaran di daerah Tokyo. Dan stasiun televisi NHK akan mulai menggunakannya untuk transmisi pada tahun depan.
Dek observasi pertama dari Skytree dapat menampung hingga 2.000 orang, dan dek observasi kedua mampu sampai 900 orang, menurut laporan media setempat.


Diketahui, menara ini mampu bertahan dari kerusakan akibat bencana gempa bumi yang melanda Jepang pada Maret 2011, selama masa konstruksinya.
Menara ini sekarang dipandang sebagai bukti nyata teknologi bangunan Jepang yang tahan gempa, serta sebagai simbol ketahanan, kata laporan media lokal.
